Arnold & Son Perpetual Moon 41.5 Platinum Fern Green Edition

Arnold & Son has once again captured the allure of the Moon with its Perpetual Moon series, reinterpreting its phases in one of the largest displays in modern horology. The latest addition, the Perpetual Moon 41.5 Fern Green, is a stunning platinum edition featuring a mesmerizing Fern Green dial. This new release continues the brand’s tradition of innovative lunar complications, building on the legacy of the 2013 Perpetual Moon and 2016’s Double Hemisphere Perpetual Moon.

The 41.5mm case is crafted in polished platinum, with a thickness of just 11.3mm, allowing the intricate dial to take center stage. The dial is beautifully decorated with deep engravings of ‘Stellar Rays,’ a technique that produces a dynamic interplay of light and shadow. The irregular engraving, with varying depths and widths, adds a sense of movement, which contrasts beautifully with the rich Fern Green hue. This color, achieved through PVD treatment and multiple layers of transparent lacquer, evokes the lush ferns found in Cornwall, where the English clockmaker John Arnold, the brand’s namesake, was born.

At the heart of the dial, a large 29mm aperture showcases the moon phase complication. Set against a grained midnight blue sky, the moon is made from mother-of-pearl and hand-painted details, with Super-LumiNova applied to enhance its glow in low light. Above the moon, two constellations—Ursa Major and Cassiopeia—are hand-painted and coated with Super-LumiNova, reminiscent of the celestial guides that navigators once used to orient themselves before the advent of reliable marine chronometers.

The Perpetual Moon 41.5 Fern Green features one of the most precise moon phase complications in watchmaking, deviating by only one day every 122 years. In the event that the watch is not wound and the moon phase needs adjusting, a second indicator on the case back, paired with a precision scale, allows for fine-tuning. The movement is powered by the manual-winding caliber A&S1512, with a 3Hz frequency and a remarkable 90-hour power reserve, thanks to its twin barrels.

The watch comes with a matching green alligator strap and a platinum pin buckle. Limited to only 28 pieces, this exceptional timepiece combines Arnold & Son’s commitment to precision with a striking aesthetic that will captivate any watch enthusiast.
