Moritz Grossmann, a founding figure of Glashütte's watchmaking heritage, was resurrected in 2008 by Christine Hutter. Celebrating its 16th anniversary, the brand unveils the Enamel Roman Vintage, an 8-piece limited edition in white gold. This exquisite timepiece showcases a stunning black enamel dial powered by the in-house manual-winding calibre 100.1.
The anniversary edition features the 41mm 18k white gold case from the Benu collection, known for its patented crown-and-pusher mechanism. With a polished finish, the case has a thickness of 11.35mm, perfectly housing the elegant dial.
Enamel dials have long been admired for their timeless beauty and resilience. Creating a flawless dial with the right intensity of color requires skill and numerous kiln firings. Moritz Grossmann’s artisans masterfully crafted the black enamel dial, involving almost 90 steps. The dial features elongated white Roman numerals, a red XII, a white railway minute track, a small seconds counter at 6 o’clock, and the historical Moritz Grossmann signature. All these inscriptions are enamel-padded and fired in the kiln for perfection.
The timepiece is powered by the brand’s calibre 1001.1, a manual-winding movement visible through the exhibition caseback. Made from untreated German silver, it features the signature 2/3 plate with horizontal ribbing, polished gold chatons with white sapphires, and a hand-engraved balance cock. The movement operates at a 2.5Hz balance rate.
Moritz Grossmann’s patented crown-and-pusher system ensures dust protection by activating the stop-seconds mechanism with a simple pull. Releasing the crown reactivates the movement for precise time setting.
Paired with a black alligator leather strap, this limited-edition timepiece is available for EUR 62,800 (including taxes).
