Ferrets dig box: DIY. This is an easy inexpensive way to provide great enrichment for your ferrets. Ferrets are natural diggers and they love to borough. My ferrets love to dig. There are lots of options for filling a ferret dig box. Some people use rice (NOT INSTANT RICE), beans, sand, plastic balls (ping pong balls or ball pit balls), cornstarch packing peanuts and paper bedding like the kind used in guinea pig cages.
I use dirt because I know for sure my ferrets won’t eat it. I’m a little worried my girl ferrets would try to eat rice or beans. My female ferrets will try to eat anything lol.
I got this dirt at the dollar store and used a bin I had at home. Although you could get a plastic bin to use as a dig box for under $10 at big box stores. You can also let your ferrets dig in the garden (before you plant in it 😂)
My ferrets sleep really well after all this playing.
